Music

Empire Theory is an indie alt-rock / pop band from Orlando. Their luscious lines and infectious beats hold a stronger purpose than to solely make you dance. Their seamless blend of thought-provoking lyrics and musical chimes aim to construct a path allowing music to precipitate social change, bringing attention to the issues that confront us as a society.

Drawing inspiration from Coldplay, MUTEMATH, U2, Phoenix, and at times the Beatles, Empire Theory released their debut EP ‘Colors’ in August of 2012. ‘Colors’ was co-produced by Roy Mitchell-Cardenas (MUTEMATH, Plastic Planets) and picks apart the themes of love, diversity, and the challenges of pushing beyond the boundaries of yourself.

Empire Theory has charted in the top 20 on college radio across the country and has developed a loyal following in Orlando and throughout the Southeast.

The band will be entering the studio in the Summer to work on their follow-up release and will continue to tour the Southeast extensively. They are currently working on a campaign to collect 25,000 pairs of shoes with Nashville-based not-for-profit organization Soles4Souls.

Empire Theory challenges you to make a difference in your world. Are you ready to become a #theorychanger?

We’re excited to announce the release of the Colors Remix feat. Tomahawk Pointe.  With this release we’ve teamed up with Soles4Souls, Inc. in order to fight the devastating impact and perpetuation of poverty by supporting the distribution of shoes to those in need. With 1 in 4 adults in the world living on less than one dollar a day, basic necessities like shoes are not readily available.  A pair of shoes can protect an individual’s feet from cuts and infection that can be life threatening if untreated.

By leaving a “tip” for this otherwise free download, you are joining our fight against poverty.  100% of tips benefit Soles4Souls.

Orlando-based indie quintet Empire Theory’s single ‘Colors’ is so ripe for radio that Justin Timberlake better watch his back. With its driving tempo and persistent chug-along percussive thump, the self-affirming uptempo pop/rock anthem conjures the likes of Coldplay and Keane, as lead vocalist (and lyricist) Sebastian Zaldibar reassures, ‘No matter where you’ve been or what you’ve done, you’re still the one/And the color of your soul is beautiful.’ Add a swirl of dreamy harmonies and the appreciable tinkle of keyboards and ‘Colors’ offers the hue of a hearty hit.
Chuck Taylor has been an entertainment journalist for 25+ years, including more than a decade as an editor, writer and Single Reviews Editor at Billboard magazine in New York.

Empire Theory gives new hope to the Orlando music scene.
